Copyright and Patent Rights

(Querist) 14 April 2010 This query is : Resolved
I have coined many technical terminologies on my own over the last 20 years and have been regularly using them for various channels of communication. Since I feel, I can attach proprietorship of such terminologies, phrases and titles what is the correct procedure to get them registered under Copyright and Patent Rights. Of late, I find such terminologies are being deployed for commercial gains leaving me as a mere spectator. Please advise

If such terminologies have been put by you under commercial use for the past 20 years certainly you are entitled to protection of such terminologies under Intellectual Property Laws. Phrases and sentences can be copyrighted under the umbrella of dramatic works or literary works. But there are no patent rights involved in your case.

I thik you should compile such quotes in a form of a book and then you can get copy rights thereof and publish it.

It is not related to any Quotes but technical terminologies and titles which needs to be protected to be used in large scale publication in Newspapers. Eg: I have a series of coverage and articles written on various technical subjects for publication in Newspapers and Magazines which should be protected so that it is not used by others to gain commercial advantage. Please check up with the Enactments and advise.
