Our Society is 23 years old. The Society was conducting quite a few parties during Diwali, Christmas and New Year. No doubt, it is a good practice to keep all the members united. However, the expenditure was always spent from Society Funds. Last year it was decided that we need to collect Rs.50/= every month towards this activity so that the collected amount can be utilized for the same. Accordingly resolution was passed and there was majority in favour of this activity. We started receiving maintenance bills which shows a charge of Rs.50/= on this activity. Few members have objected to this and have said that they will stop paying this amount. Their contention is that those members who are interested in such parties may pay separately and others who are not interested should not be penalized for this.I would like to know is it mandatory for the members to pay this Rs.50/= every month BECAUSE OF THE MAJORITY & RESOLUTION PASSED. DOES THE BYE LAWS ALLOW TO APPLY THIS CHARGE OF RS.50/= IN THE MAINTENANCE BILL..........? PLEASE ADVISE AND GUIDE US.

As the resolution has already been passed by majority votes so it has now become mandatory for all to abide by it.
