My grandfather inherited property from his father which was made ( self acquired) by him. In 1965 my grandfather divided this property thru registered deed to his son ( my father), my grandmother & himself.This was then registered in records. My grandfather died in 1978.My father passed away in 1998 and did not leave a will. His share of the property was then transferred to my mother, my sister , my brother & me. My aunts are now claiming an equal share in the entire property.

In the fact situation revealed by you, your aunt's have no right to claim. Even if they make a claim, the same can be easily got dismissed.

Not only your aunt has no legal right to claim in the share inherited by you all from your father, you all are also entitled to inherit the share from the share of your grand father retained by him while making settlement/partition during his life time. You all need to file a suit for partition and possession qua the property share left by your grand father.

Thank you very much sirs! my aunt has sent us a notice asking for 1/4th share and has filed a civil suit. What should be our next course of action

In 1965 my grandfather divided this property thru registered deed to his son ( my father), my grandmother & himself.This was then registered in records. My grandfather died in 1978.My grandmother sold off her share in the property. she made a registered will thru which she left some Fixed Deposits to my brother ( in fact the FDs are in her & my brother's joint name). My grandmother passed away in October 2012. My brother passed away in December 2012. Who will now get the FD money?
