i want to file a case for defamation for IPC 498(a) .How much time is needed for doing so
2- How long will it get to get a judgement
3- What all materials i have to provide

is the case over ? has any finding ben given by court that case is false and bogus .

merely because your wife has filed a case does not mean that you can file case for defamation .

it may take some years for a judgement .

There is a lot of things which need to be proved for defamation, acquittal is just one of them.

I agree about other things with Ld. Mr. Makkad.

Defamamtion does not lie on the basis of commplaint.

An acquittal from a criminal prosecution does not provide any cause of action for any defamation case.

However a suit for malicious prosecution may lie if the acquittal is not only due to benefit of doubt.
