what does blank status in CIBIL means??
This is the latest email i got from my Banker
Dear Mr. Balyan
Re: Your Credit Card: 4476 xxxx xxxx 1432
We refer to your email of 25 November 2011, expressing concerns
regarding the above mentioned credit card.
Settlement Related:
We confirm that we had offered settlement for INR 9000/-and we had
received payment as per the Full and Final settlement on 13 October 2008
and the bank has waived the balance amount of INR 11896.31 on 15
November 2008 and the card outstanding was zeroised.
Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL):
With reference to your concern regarding the updation of Credit
Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL), we reiterate that we were in
receipt of payment towards the outstanding on your credit card, post the
card account has been written off in the CIBIL records.
We take this opportunity to inform you that, CIBIL is an initiative of
the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to improve
the functionality and stability of the Indian financial system. This is
in line with the RBI?s efforts to provide an effective mechanism for
exchange of information between banks and financial institutions,
thereby enabling customers to avail of better credit terms from various
financial institutions. This is as per normal business standards across
banks.
Accordingly, all banks and financial institutions participating in this
initiative are required to share customer data with CIBIL.
The data in CIBIL is historic in nature and contains both the positive
and negative feedback relating to any specific card or loan account.
Therefore, the details regarding the repayment pattern of your credit
card and your loan account is reflecting therein.
We confirm that your card has been updated with nil overdue and nil
outstanding in CIBIL records. Further, the status field in CIBIL records
is blank for the above mentioned credit card.
We clarify that there is no such status as closed that could be updated
in CIBIL records.
We request you to write to info@cibil.com for the updated CIBIL report.
Mr.Balyan, we trust having clarified your concerns and the Bank?s
position in this regard.
Please write to us at nodalofficerinm@hsbc.co.in for any further
clarifications pertaining to your card account.

CIBIL statement will reflect only when the payment is pending, or when the settlement is done.
Blank means there is no arrears. It gives no negative remark on you.

This is w.r.t. this particular bank.
If the report is favorable, no reason why you won't.

There is no legal hurdle for you to get the desire home loan but still it depends upon the banker to decide as this is not your legal right to avail it. You have just shown your capability to be considered.

Thank you all for the help.
Earlier HSBC was having status as "Post write off settle"....after this i included Bank ombudsman (RBI) into the conversation with HSBC and after this the HSBC changed the status as Blank.
