Dear Sir,
Thanks in Advance for your time.
My exact name is “Imtiyaz Ahmed Shaikh” and my fathers name is “Asimohammed Shaikh”. As per Maharashtra State Board Policy my name appears as “Shaikh ImtiyazAhmed Asimohammed” on my SSC and HSC certificate. This format of name has costed me many problems in my academics.
Because of above my name appears as “Shaikh Imtiyaz Asimo” on my degree certificate from IIT BHU.
I have my personal documents such as pan card, driving liscense, Aadhar Card etc. possesing my exact name as “Imtiyaz Ahmed Shaikh”.
I want to replace my name on my SSC and HSC certificate from “Shaikh ImtiyazAhmed Asimohammed” to “Imtiyaz Ahmed Shaikh” at earliest possible else I will face deep trouble while appearing my MBA entrance exams as it demands the SSC certificate for name verification.
Please guide through the procedure as i am completely unaware of legal intricacies.

There are two ways - one is, if the name is wrongly appeared in the Education Certificates, you have to request the concerned authorities stating that though in the application correct name is written, in the certificates, wrong name appeared. This starts from your SSC Board. You can go to the school from where your SSC examination application is forwarded, find out the copy of application and look into the details of name. If you (your representative) filled in properly, but still there was a wrong in the certificate, you have forward an application to SSC board through your School Head master who will endorse the facts with copy of application. Once your SSC certificate is corrected, you have to take up with each authority for change of name basing on the changed SSC certificate.
The other way is change of your name. Any person who attains the age 18 years can change his name by following certain procedure: The procedure in brief is:

change of name in ssc / hsc certificates would not be allowed after so many years . you would need court orders in this regard

First consult the board which issued the certificate, if it does not agree file court case, it may take 2-3 years in decision.

The education authorities may not entertain any application for change of name in the SSC certificate or any other educational certificates. It is now to get it changed through a gazette publication by following the necessary formalities in that regard as per the provisions of the local state government rules in this connection.
