accident claim

my father met an accident in july,1997 and i was of age 14 and did not know what to do then in 2002 i registered the case against uttar pradesh roadways, this year the money has been granted but it is 5 lac which is not the compensation amount we require, i think of appealing in high court although the case had once been there, my lawyer made contract with 12% of compensation amount, now i need to know whether it is worth appealing in high court and do i need the old lawyer? my father was business man and tax payee.
please help if possible.
