General power of attorney

(Querist) 12 October 2014 This query is : Resolved
I have got a power of attorney from my son a few years ago for buying and selling properties on his behalf. Now a days the Registration department says the power of attorneys must have the property details and schedule, then only the power is valid. Is it true and is the power of attorney previously have not valid?

is the power of attorney registered? for buying and selling of property on your son behalf registration is necessary .
ajay sethi (Expert) 12 October 2014
it is not necessary to mention the property details as it is general power given to purchase and sale of property
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 12 October 2014
In GPA the detail of property for sale and purchase is not necessary.

Thank you Mr.Ajay and Mr.Rajendra for reply. I got power endorsed by Indian Embassy at US and I used to buy sell properties till 2005. Then I did not use. recently went to Sub Registrar for getting PA from my wife who is sick then the Sub-registrar insisted to enter property details along with original sale deed of the property concerned. My wife is with me in India. Is there any privilege for NRI?
