Dear sir,
need your help in this issue.
My mother has recently applied for a passport , there was a difference in her date of birth in her pan card and in her 10th Leaving certificate by 2 days, one of my relative did a mistake by modifying the 10th Leave certificate to match the pan card date of birth, however during passport verification , verification failed as the school leaving certificate did not match the school records.
We did not get any reply from passport office till now but we are scared to go and inquire about the status .
My mother is badly in need of passport, Dear Sir, can you please suggest what needs to be done?.. will their be any legal action against us?.. if yes what it will be?..

Try to obtain the certificate from the Registrar of Births & Deaths.

Go to passport office and ask them form in that you can clearly mention the reason for difference and file. that will help u. produce all relevant documents such birth certificate any other document which shows dob.

Well advised by above Experts.There is nothing to be scared.Meet the Concerned Pass Port Officer in person and Explain the Situation and difficulties along with an affidavit attested by Notary explaining the discrepancies and the actual facts and proofs

You have to visit the passport office and o remove the objection pointed out by them in the application.

how can you modify date in school leaving certificate? you ought to have changed date of birth in Pan card based on school leaving certificate .
get your school leaving certificate as per the school records . change date of birth in pan card and then apply for passport

Yes it is better to visit the passport office in person, clarify the details in person and if required, you may provide an affidavit in the format that will be provided by the office.
