I had divorce with my first wife 4yrs ago. I don't have any contacts now. I have a joint bank locker in a nationalised bank which was never opetated till date. Now I got married. How can I get it transfered in our name now? Bank manager saying get a order from court, local lawyer says nothing to do with court. Plz help.

Process should be ,

Local Advocate issue notice to your First wife that there is a Locker on joint name between you and her and that you want to surrender the Locker and asking her to co-operate directly or through her representative who may hold valid Power of Attorney , Visit bank and do necessary formalities.

After surrender, Bank will do fresh deed with you and Locker is allotted to you .

(Although in local usage or language people may call transfer but legal process is surrender of Locker and then again allotment to one person same locker and key)

RBI makes guide line , So Latest Locker notification and rules is required to be studied .

If she does not co-operate or with all your means you don't get her previous address then RBI notification rules required to be studied again and then decided

Hire another locker preferably in some other Bank.

Whether the previous locker was in the joint name? If so how it was operated, either or survivor / former or survivor / jointly of survivor?

If operation was either or survivor (and Bank has not received any instructions for not allowing operation from you or other party), you can operate previous locker, withdraw the contents. Ask the Banker to close the hiring facility afterwards.
