CBI will register and investigate offences under prevention of Corruption act committed by public servants of central govt. offices and public sector banks and organisations.

Anti corruption bureau takes up same offences commited by public servants of state government.

CBI will also take up cases of other offences as ordered by High Court, Supreme Court or Government which are initially investigated by state police.

Economic offence wing of respective states will investigate economic offences like cheating, breach of trust, forgery etc. committed within the state.
