I don't find anything unethical here.
This is my own opinion, but would go with what we all decide collectively.

1)the main reason why we became members of lawyers club was to help the litigants in solving their legal problems . weoffer members advice free of cost .
2)it also helps us in connecting with other lawyers throughout india .we may have difference of opinion but site has helped us in enriching our knowledge . as on date it has around 1,48,000 members .
3)for any webiste to develop it needs revenue . if it increases its revenue by running various advertisments , offering value added services i dont see any harm .
4.)to be frank i had my reservations about being a PRO member as we are offering free service to members . however on second thoughts i decided to join in when i received a telephonic call from administrator
4) PRO is optional . through PRO services it is giving chance to querists to chat with various experts ., contact us for solving the legal queries .

I agree what Mr. Tom says,
We offer our free expert services, and PRO demanded almost Rs. 6,000/- p.a. from us as Fees for becoming PRO!!
The Experts only have to pay, and not the one who get free Consultations!!
When a PRO Executive talked to me last week with request to subscribe, I explained, at Least like, Antivirus Software, offer a Two months free Trial, and if we find it favorable, and useful, we will pay you but in initial stage, why we should be burdened, despite our Free, Honest, and urgent services??
I explained, it is Honorary, free services, and the PRO Executive promises me to discuss with their Management and comeback with suggestions.

of course they need income..
for that they want to collect it from members who doing free service? who is being part of this site's development?
its may be optional., even all of this facility available in face book as free of cost.
how they can? more over face book providing very advanced services than lci.,

Dear Tom,
I too have similar opinion as that of Mr.Sethi. PRO services are optional and nobody is compelled to join the same.
Further, i con't consider it as advertising of us as advocates, but it is like a directory of advocates bu which the needy people can choose amoung the best available advocates for guidance and services.
But I am keeping myself away from the PRO for the time being due to some reasons.

why not for free trial basis
for a month or two??
Those who can use and benefit will certainly join it.
If useful, then only it will survive,
If PRO looses something in such offer, it has to weigh pros & cons.
We are already getting PM etc, so usefulness [or disturbance every now & then on phone etc, when we are in court room, or in meetings, consultations with clients, & conferences, ] had to be evaluated.
Give Opportunities to Experts, to use and evaluate!
Or make it money back guarantee & offer!!
Think it over.

yes i am also accept view of Mr.TOM, most of the experts advise for helping mind, so the LCI is if intend to help to the poor people must give all the experts to activated pro version.
Deepak Nair
(Expert) 05 January 2012
Dear Tom,
Since the experts are providing advices free of cost, commercialisation of services of the LCI definitely is a drawback.
But, charging a nominal amount for such services is not at all bad, since if everything is absolutely free, then such things will not have a value in the eyes of people.
Please think of a situation where a large number of people subscribe to the PRO services for free. Then there will be flood of such subscribers. Those who really are eligible will get sidelined. The administrators shall not be able to manage the services effectively.
Thus, keeping such a charge will restrict subscriptions and the eligible and deserving persons who are really interested in such services only will avail the same. The administrator will be able to manage the services effectively.

I agree to the views of Mr.Sroff regarding free trial for 2 months through which one can judge the usefulness of the services.

The cost too is on the higher side, which the administrator can reconsider

Dear Tom!
You and many of us might be remembering a query raised just 27 days before by a respectable expert Mr.Ramachandran which may be re approached as http://www.lawyersclubindia.com/experts/Rating-system-256986.asp.
And communicating with others I was able to guess then and there as besides several things I also said"......unless the site is visualizing some commercial utility thereof but that is again objectionable to me."
I am not going to subscribe it as i feel I afford sufficient time to the queries I attend and I do not want any phone call, chat or even PMs from questioners unless they are disclosed lawyers.Nothing of that sort is going to add any value at least personally to me except causing disturbance.Neither I have been approached for opting PRO nor shall i opt even if provided free of cost. That is personal for me.However I feel it wrong if experts are being persuaded to pay for it while they are providing free service. In my general opinion PRO should be free and optional to those who are lawyers and cost should go upon those who want to ask queries.

Paying money for something is a kind of investment which demands return,it is more than sufficient that what is going as broad band operational cost without fetching any return.

Dear ALL CONCERNED
I talked & convinced the Team of PRO, who are coming out with my Suggestion for FREE TRIAL for one MONTH,
I recommend all, to try it and check the usefulness of the services.
To accept or not depend on all of us.
And in case it help support our LCI site, that is increasing our knowledge, and helping us understand victims of law .
We may support it. I also suggested PRO to bring down monthly sub for few months. Let's see what Mg decide.

thats also why for one month?.,
dear friends, i hope all of you having experience with orkut or face book., all this facility available there as free service..
an another view i agree that if its fully free service mean we may get disturbed, but just see this PRO's chat option. it will be function to only for online members., like that lci can modify the "call" option.,

One thing I do not wish to miss to say is that this LCI is no more for helping the litigants which we used to do even a year back.
Now mostly the professionals posts their query to solve the problem their own cases free of cost and in this crowd often we could not give enough attentions to the genuine ones.
At l;east I do not get any pleasure in solving the problem of professionals.
I invite comments from my friends here on this aspect.

I totally agree with the views of tom and prabhakar sir. I think this ocassion has come after a long gap when I and prabhakar singh are strongly of the similar view.
I was also contacted by admin and I had clearly told him that the only experts are running this site. Only experts have popularized this site to the extent that more than 10,000 clicks are made in this site daily which earn at least Rs. 1 lakh daily which is a huge income for the management of this site.
We all experts do not demand any share out of the income of the site as our contribution is with intent to provide free of cost help to the general needy person.
If LCI wants to generate more income then it should demand it from general querists rather from experts.
PRO means purchasing disturbance by incurring money by experts. It is genral behaviour that who so ever purchases, has to pay money against it. If litigant wants legal opinion from an expert, he should pay (if the aim and object of LCI has changed now).
LCI can charge this amount of Rs. 499/- from querists per month and pay its 1/2 to experts and may retain 1/2 with it.
Why experts should pay, contribute their valuable time for personally attending a querist and incur expenses over infrastructure? just for income for LCI???????????????????
I strongly oppose the idea of PRO membership for LCI.

One more thing I have observed that the experts which do not seem active since a long time but have joined as PRO are being shown as 'icon'(HERO) of site totally ignoring the contribution of actually contributing experts.
If this ignorance goes on for some more time then only PRO shall remain here irrespective of their knowledge and contribution and Admin shall have to re-think on that day.
It is high time to review whole policy and its implementation and adopt free and fair assessment otherwise it shall create total frustration in the minds of actual contributors.

I invite the opinion of all other experts as well of Admin on the aforementioned both issues so that a concrete decision may be taken. Various other sites are also waiting for real contributors if Admin is adamant over his attitude.

Mr. Raj has pointed out very very important point. It need to be considered.
I observed, it is not only take lots of time, and expertise to Reply, They call directly from all over India, and take away further time, and use our free consultation for their commercial field, earning at our cost.
Mr. Barman, Mr. Tom, Shri Prabhakarji had pointed out very important and serious points.I joined recently, and my contribution is not even 5% of yours.
However, I noticed, this system need review.

dear friends, 500 rupees/month its not an issue., in this 1,48,000 members, 1/3 may be advocates, law students., in case we 1000 members subscribed it mean 5,00,000/- per month.,
we advocate members working in a service manner, but who going to get financial benefits? we peoples must understand this., thats only i want to tell to my friends.,
as of makkad sir's words, admin has started this site and doing some maintenance work. thats it., out of that we peoples only developed this site to this much familiar.,
i joined here on august 13, 2010. at the time just 70,000 members., and very few experts only., but today? who is behind the success of lci? without doubt we only.. by consideration now admin trying to divert our members.,
by paying money if get listed in directory mean its not shame to us? not shame to our profession? so just get aware about it.,
thank you for supporting me to make awareness about this., love you all.

dear admin please drop the pro plan., you can think about any other plans to increase your income sources., rather than brain washing experts. dont defame my field. i will be thankful to you.
[dear y.prakash sir must visit here, and see our members opinion about PRO. or no problem i will bring it to your knowledge.,]
while i get offer phone call from admin i enquired with that executive, that mr.prakash encouraging this act? but he replied as "we are one another team"., who is that another team working behind this?

Dear Tom!
True I am sitting in a village type district, although a com missionary, but I know that these kind of sites can be run hardly at cost of 50k+,any one dealing it must understand I know business.I have been doing 25% of my cases without charging fees and it is my inbuilt zeal that has retained me here and not the medal of featured membership. It should be understood properly that even 15 noticeable experts withdraw, there would be none to answer queries. It is Zeal inside a human that works and not recognition of any kind.

I again request to Admin to pay his kind attention towards common views of experts to drop this PRO membership for experts rather shift it towards the querists so that a good income may be got generated and some of the portion of such fee charged from the querist may also be devoted to the experts who contribute their whole expertise with zeal and with missionnary will.
It is already 12.29 midnight and I shall be active here till 2 AM. What more proof of our dedication towards this site you require Admin sir and this is all without any reward. You even become fail to properly count 'Thanks' what to talk more reward from your side.....

" Shift it towards the querists so that a good income may be got generated and some of the portion of such fee charged from the querist may also be devoted "
Here I agree with Shri Raj Kumar makkad, and also point it out that if querist are charged, even a small amount per query, it will restrict repeating query, query w/o detail, academic query and unnecessary wastage of Experts Time.
TOM, Congratulations, for this Revolution. it was need of time, and facts.
There are 1000 active querist per one active Expert here are.
Check no. of query per monthly, and no of experts who answered it.
[Majority members must be asking a question or two in a year.Same member registering under diff names!! get their IP ADDRESS ]
think over who will generate income? by charging Experts or querist?
