Your father is free to distribute his property in his own sweet way, since the subject property is self acquired and he can dispense with it in whatever manner he wants, neither the sons or the daughter has any rights during his lifetime.

It is the property of your father self earned. During the life time of your father your sister cannot claim her share in the father's self earned property. Your father can dispose of his property according to his will and wish. Hindu succession act is amended daughter is also equal to son, being a coparcener she has got right in the ancestral property by birth. But recent Karnataka high court decision right will accrue by succession to the daughter.

As the property is self-acquired property is your father and he is alive, even you cannot claim any right therein. Neither you nor your sister have any right in the self acquired property of your father during his life-time.

I do agree with all learned experts. property is self acquired by your father. No one claim his/her right in that property in father's life time.

Only father dies intestate - without making any will or settlement in his life time - all legal heirs have equal rights . In his life time he can alienate /transfer his self acquired property even to street dog.

I have similar opinion as of all learned experts on this common subject.
