Dear Mr. Santosh,
Suppose there are 4 persons amongst whom a particular property is to be partitioned, one can say that each one will get 1/4th share. (This is called notional partition). This is called notional because except for saying that in what ratio the partition would be done, no exact particulars i.e. which part will go to whom has been stated. Therefore it is called notional partition.
If the property is partitioned by metes and bounds (i.e. by exactly describing the length and bredth, north, east, south west, and the boundries, extent etc. of the property and showing as to which part will go to whom), then it is called partition by metes and bounds or final partition.
