Permission of police station.

Kindly let me know whether there is a rule that rent a flat in a ownership complex should have prior permission or informed to police station.

no need to seek permission, but better to verify with local police station if any suspicious on them or unknown . it helpful for avoid problem in future.

most societies insist on police verification as cops have directed societies not to grant permission for any flat to be given on leave and licence unless police verification is done

Check local bye-laws. In some city is compulsory.

It mostly depend upon the circular of the law enforcing agencies of the particular city or state.
In Kolkata there is no such need.

Generaly there is no need for police permission, but, when you give for foreigners, you have to inform the foreigners.
