Power of Attorney is an Authorisation given to an Advocate to appear, plead, argue on behalf of a client/firm or anyother person before the court.self registration for attorney is not in vougue.

Power of Attorney for registration purposes has to bear the Stamp paid applicable in the district/state where it is being executed and registered at the sub-registrar office, usually it is on Rs100/- non-judicial Stamp paper but varies from state to state in India.. The best information is from the district office website of the district where the process is to be done. Secondly the power of attorney can be for various purposes not only for representation by the advocate in the court. The power of attorney you are seeking may be with regard to transfer of property of someone and for this purpose the registration is statutorily required.

Power of Attorney shall be executed by the principla in favour of his relatives or well wishers or friends to do acts on his behalf. If ithe POA is given for other purposes execept to transfer any immovable property, the stamp duty is Rs.100/- in general but it varies from state to state. If the POA for the purpose of any transfer of immovable property i.e.sale, lease, gift or partition then it attracts more stamp duty and in most states, the POA is given to family members the stamp duty is upto Rs.1000/-. consult in local registrar office or see website of igrs. of the State.

Prima facie it is an examination hall question paper, but not a query.
