On 25.5.2008 I have taken a ticket in Indian railways via internet in Kanyakumari express which gave me waiting list number 89 after receiving the e-payment. But when i traveled TTR told that it is invalid ticket and you are not allowed to travel in this train because now you are in status of ticket less travel and pay penalty of Rs.610 and moreover he showed me the name list chart that waiting list number 89 contains other person's name and not your name.
Immediately I rose a question that how could one number of waiting list can be given to two people and why there is no link for waiting list which is taken via internet and manual. So mistake is emerged from your side so I told him that I will pay the penalty of Rs.610 but you give in writing that this e ticket is invalid ticket and I will see the rest but he refused to do so. And after long time he came back and told to my father that you need not pay Rs.610 penalty instead you take another ticket of Rs.286 in the forthcoming station. And father also done the same.
But now I am not at all satisfied with the solution given by the TTR because he made me to ashamed in front of others by saying that you are traveling without ticket. I am retaining that e ticket and another ticket which he asked take to my father. Can I lodge a complaint regarding this issue and I am I eligible for any claim or compensation if I approach consumer court for this issue. Please advise me in this regard.

You have a good case, provided you have are a valid and registered user of the Railway WEbsite and the ticket has been alloted validly.
We travel only on e tickets regularly, our enitre staff and articles travel regularly. We have never had a problem.
If you have bought from other user, please check with them. Make yourself assured before you take legal recourse.
