wat is d difference betweent travelling allowance & transport allowance.
Guest (Expert) 28 May 2008
Travelling allownace is more or less similar and akin to Conveyance as understood under section 10(14)which is usually a monthly payment or routine payment.

Transport allowance is usually associated with reimbursement on transfer and such other thing in case of salaried person.

Dear friend,
The difference between travelling allowance and transport allowance is>
Travelling allowance is given for the purposes of the official duties ie for going outside the head quarters for official purposes and is exempt from tax. On the other hand transport allowance is given to an employee to meet the expenditure on comming and going to the office. It is exempt upto Rs. 800/- p.m. But where the employee is physically handipcapped than the exemption limit is doubled i.e., exemption limit is 1600/- p.m.
