Special marriage act 1954

Respected and learned advocates, my marriage was solemnized in the year 2013 under Special Marriage Act, 1954. The Marriage before, my wife had published an advertisement asking for a groom, in a leading Bengali Newspaper in West Bengal. I responded, telephoned her relatives, talked to them and after several negotiations the marriage was materialized. After that, the relatives of the bride first gave notice on 9th November, 2013 and the marriage was followed by Registration of Marriage on 13th December, 2013 with help of a Marriage officer, under Special Marriage Act, 1954, then the rituals of marriage were held. My query is whether my marriage was justified or not under Special Marriage Act. I am Bengalee and my wife is also Bengalee. Both of us are Hindus too. So far as I know only Special Marriage Act is applicable to different religions. Special Marriage is applicable to me? Pls. advise me.
