I have two questions: 1. Can a PIO be a trustee in Educational Institute trusts and become Chairman of Trust? 2. If an author of a trust becomes a member of the trust, does he loose the authorship?

Yes. Please specify of "PIO". As per me, usually, the author may become a Managing Trustee and an author is a permanent member of the trustee during his lifetime.
