Two bldgs. having a common wall

(Querist) 12 January 2013 This query is : Resolved
two buildings have a common wall inbetween.
one building is completely vacant, whereas the other is occupied by tenants.
can the vacant building be demolished without affecting the building that is occupied? is there a law that prevents this action?
please guide.
thanks.

since both buidlings have common wall you have to inform residents of other building before demolishing your building . in the vent any damage is caused to other building you have to carry out necessary repairs and compensate them for damage caused

In case you are owner of the vacant building you can do so as of right but with out causing any damage to adjoining building occupied by tenants(irrespective of fact who owns it you or some one else).
