Wage settlement....compulsion

(Querist) 29 October 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

Is there is any situation where the Government can compel the employer to give specific ( mimimum ) wage rise to workers?

I am referring the case where the wages are more than minimum wages prescribed by the respective Government Authorities.

No. There is no such law. Wage settlement in a private organisation is through collective bargaining.

Minimum Wages Act prescribes only minimum limit of wages below of which wages cannot be given but there is no law to check upper wage than proscribed in this Act.
