Adoption and inheritance of property

A widow having a small male child married a person. The person adopted the child. But the child did not change the surname and in his service book he mentioned the name of his real father (not the adopted father). The adopted father has two brothers. Can this person claim one third of the land (being share of his adopted father)?

Secondly, he has been residing in the land with his children. There are several houses (pucca buildings, Brick walls, etc) in which his children are living. Can he proceed for the partition of the land claiming the portion he is occupying?
