You give either cheque / draft in favour of your wife before the judge and see that the judge in the order sheet mention this fact that you handed over the cheque/draft.  As an abundant precaution, you can request the judge to obtain the wife's signature on the left hand corner of order sheet as acknowledgment of receipt of the cheque.
