Case status

Dear Sir/Madam, Good day, I hired a lawyer for a criminal original procedure direction petition and lawyer told me that the petition was filed at Chennai high court and gave me a case number. when I checked at on www.courtnic.nic.in, there is no data. Please clarify me by a email reply that how I can find the reality of my petition is filed or not? Because by my lawyer's replies I have doubt that he didn't filed the case / petition but gave me a fake case number just to stretch the time for some months to favor my opponents.
