Caste certificate

I belong to SC category and I am residing in Mumbai for last 10 year. I don't have caste certificate. My birth took place in Bihar. There is no house property in Bihar neither in Mumbai. I living in a rented house in Mumbai. What should I fill my category list during filling government examination like Bank exam, SSC, UPSC? If I fill SC category they will ask Caste certificate during verification. My question is If I fill general category while filling the form. It would be any problem in future in the job. Please suggest me.
