fate of DDR

There is no use of DDR except a valid record of lodging the police complaint which is non-cognizable.

my question is whether the police is required to investigate further for registering an FIR or the matter just ends with registration of a DDR ?

Certain office orders were removed by some one in the office from the files . The department asked the police to register DDR .  Now what ?
