HC sacks the dowry demanding magistrate

Dowry ruckus: HC sacks magistrate

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has gone beyond the routine ‘suspension pending inquiry’ and terminated the service of a judicial magistrate who created a ruckus when denied dowry and beat up his would-be wife.

The termination order was served to Inder Singh Malviya in Shahdol, where the 30-year-old had fled after he was denied anticipatory bail. Malviya was posted as JMFC in Shahdol. “All the charges against him were found to be true,” HC Registrar K D Khan said.

Malviya, reportedly drunk, hurled invectives and demanded Rs one lakh and a Maruti car in dowry when his baraat reached the venue of his wedding in his hometown Dewas on December 1. He then turned to his would-be wife Monika Solanki, 19, a college student, and beat her up as the relatives watched.

The Pandit fled when Malviya attempted to complete the ceremony on his own and threatened to kill Monika.
