Please share your views openly on these 3 points..

1. If Britishers had continued governing India, would they have managed India better than our present government,or worse?

2. Would quality of life of Indians been improved or deteriorated?

3. Would they have successfully eradicated social evils like dowry system, illegal rackets, corrupt judiciary, etc?

P.S-My question is only to know opinions. Please don't take it personally.

Thanks..

What britisher done and WOULD THEY MANAGED INDIA BETTER THE ANSWER IS GIVEN ONLY IN ONE SENTENCE:

Just look at this link:

https://wn.com/Golden_Bridge_Narmada,_Bharuch

https://www.panoramio.com/photo/32077490

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Bridge

Narmada Bridge build by British. over 125 years old.

The Golden Bridge that connects Ankleshwar to Bharuch was built in 1881 by the British, who needed a bridge across the Narmada River to create better access to trade and administration officials in Bombay (now called Mumbai).

The Golden Bridge has seen many floods and natural disasters like earthquakes, but it has stood for 129 years, providing daily transportation to the people of Ankleshwar and Bharuch.

According to legend, it is known as the "Golden Bridge" because the iron used in its construction is very sturdy, resistant to rust and rare, and it was so expensive to build the bridge that a bridge could have been made from gold over a small river like the Thames in this much amount.

A GROUP OF INDIANS FOLLOWED THE BRTISHERS AND MAKE MONEY BY CORRUPTION AT THE TIME OF BRITISH RULE. COMMON INDIANS HATED THEM AND MAINTAIN A DISTANCE WITH THEM.

LOOTING THE GOVT MONEY STARTED BY BRITISHERS AND NOW A DAYS MODERN INDIA FOLLOWED THEM.

Hemant Agarwal (ha21@rediffmail.com Mumbai : 9820174108)     04 February 2011

Most people, by default, are corrupt to the Core.  This is more specifically more prominent and evident in Indians.  History is evident of this.

- The sickening nuisance and corrupt attitude in Ramayana
- The conning conspiracy & property cornering in Mahabharata
- The sinister dowry systems prelevant from thousands of years
- The child marriage organised by the social perverts
- The scores of hallucinated Gods & Religions created by myopic Hindus
- Indians (specially Hindus),  never did develop any significant commerce & values
- inebriated philosphers with theories of no legs no hands.
- Corrupt Indians always clandestinely collided with every foriegner invading India against their own brethren.

EVEN When the Britishers have left :
-  Seventy thousand crore dollars are stashed away in foriegn banks
-  Millions of pending court cases
-  498(A)  &  377 Gayism & Live-in relations relations legalised.
-  Exodus of Indian technical talent to foreign shores
- Caste'ism  & more than 80% in reservations
- 99% corruption
- Vandalism & Corruption in the well of the parliament + Criminals as our MP's
- Farmer suicides
- Onion @ 70/- kg  AND Petrol @ 63/- litre  AND Beer @ 60/- bottle

CONCLUDINGLY,  even the Britishers got saturated themselves with the attitude of Indians and sought an escape route from India,  which somehow fell in their lap, again by the frenzied herd mentality of Indians.

FURTHER,  Indians "were"  &  'would"  always be lucky  enough to survive all of it, due to the sheer size of population.  i.e.  Safety in Numbers.

Keep Smiling .... Hemant Agarwal

i totally second the views of hemant and kushan.

@ arup,

if indians learnt plundering of wealth from britishers, they were older generations of indians ,who are not there any more.

wot abt present politicians and the youth?

why dont they follow their own morals and ethics, instead of saying "our forefathers took tutions in "plundering" from britishers.so we will also follow them."

wots the logic in this statement?y play this blame game?

countries like korea, singapore etc got independence from tyranny.now they are highly developed, because their present geneartions dont live in the past.

look at bombings in hiroshima and nagasaki during 2nd world war.and look at japan now.

do they still say"we were bombed,so we cant progress?"

wot logic are u putting here?

City diamond traders get black money notice

Two Mehta Clans Among 26 With Liechtenstein A/Cs
(Times of India, Mumbai edition of 06-02-2011, page no.01)

New Delhi/Kolkata: The central government has served notices on 17 Indian nationals, including Mumbai’s well-known diamond traders, who are found to have allegedly stashed away money in secret bank accounts in Liechtenstein.

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee also told reporters in Kolkata that the names of Indians having illicit accounts in Liechtenstein will officially be made public during court proceedings. “We have received a few names and already served notices on 17 persons and prosecution has begun,” he said.

Mukherjee was reacting to the disclosure in media of names of those holding deposits in LGT Bank of Liechtenstein - a tax haven sandwiched between Germany and Austria.      The list of Indians holding accounts in LGT Bank that was made available by Germany last year is made up of 26 individuals and 12 trusts.

Most of the individuals belong to known Mumbai-based diamond trading families and, sources say, include front-ranking names like Harshad Mehta and his brothers Dilip and Arun. Known for his links to a top politician from Maharashtra, Harshad also owns a 12% stake in the Kochi IPL team.

The list sports another Mehta clan, also a well-known diamond trading family that started Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. The LGT account of Kirtilal Mehta, the family elder who died in the early 90s, may have become non-operational. His children Prabodh and Rashmi also have accounts with the bank.

Manoj Dhupelia, Rupal Dhupelia and Mohan Dhupelia, who figure on the list, are believed to be from a business family in Kolkata that is into import-export.     As the names came out, the BJP kept up its chant that the government lacks the will to recover black money hoarded abroad.

WHEN BLACK CAME TO LIGHT

March 2009 |

German govt sends New Delhi list of Indians holding accounts in banks in Liechtenstein, a tax haven. Indian government says names can’t be disclosed on grounds of confidentiality

Feb 4 |

Tehelka blows the lid, publishes names of 15 individuals and trusts holding secret accounts in Liechtenstein banks. Many are diamond merchants of Mumbai. Sources claim top diamond trader Harshad Mehta and his brothers Dilip and Arun are on this list There are also reports in a section of the media that the Mehtas who started the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai are on this list, including Kirtilal Mehta, his children Prabodh and Rashmi. Another business family from Kolkata also on the list
Next day Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee says govt has served notices to 17 people who have clandestine accounts in foreign banks. His one-liner: “We have received a few names and served notices on 17 persons and prosecution has begun”

PARALLEL ECONOMY?

Estimate of black money inside and outside the country vary. A BJP task force estimated the amount at anything between $500 billion to $1,400 billion

A Global Financial Integrity study said the illicit money outflow from India was $462 billion

COMMENT :  Notice the Indian's stashing away India's wealth,  AFTER THE BRITISH LEFT INDIA.

@ arup,

if indians learnt plundering of wealth from britishers, they were older generations of indians ,who are not there any more.

@ MS ROSHNI.

your question compels me to answer in this manner.

part of your question is -

" ...  If Britishers had continued governing India..."

it seems that you take it granted that, britisher's are more good ruller than indians.

but many of our modern problems are started by britishers.

corruption, black money, two of them.

during  2nd world war corruption, black money,  and some other economic problem started by pro british  indians, in large scale.  the then accumulated money, latter on created palallel economy in india.

perhaps you understand, why i told britishers are the father of corruption in indian economy.

however i do not have much knowledge on the matter, let us see what others telling.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     06 February 2011

...  would they have managed India better ...

the intention of the britishers were exploit economically -  the india and the indian people. in this matter mr hemant says well.

they never ruled india ( politically) as a strong unified india. devide and rule was there policy. they do not have much capacity to rule the india. they left a large portion of india - unrully. even where they were strong, there also british rulling was for name's sake. they understood / realised at the time of 2nd world war that there days are numbered at india. no strong unified centre was there - as we have today.

they were much more interested to collect the revinew instead of good administration and justice.

people were mostly anti british. no democratic atmosphere was there. people were not allowed to vote and administrate themselves. anti british feeling was strong.

in reality, they do not have any answer of the question that - why indians will not govern themselves, where britishers got this right on their own parliament long before? why british king will be the king of india?

ALL THESE SHOWS A VERY BAD GOVERNNENCE OF THE THEN INDIA.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     06 February 2011

...  quality of life of Indians been improved or deteriorated?...

IN COMPARISION TO TODAY'S INDIA, the then quality of life (perhaps it will be standered of living) was very poor.

common man perticularly poor man do not have much more money in hand. cash was rare to them. economics was very underdeveloped. industries were about to nill. people were mostly depend upon the agriculture which was further depend upon the natural rain.

natural calamity like flood or starvation do not create any pressure over the rulers as they (britishers) need not to elected by the people.

therefore standard of living was poor, and if the british reign continued, i guessed it could be detroited.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     06 February 2011

.....  Would they have successfully eradicated social evils like dowry system, illegal rackets, corrupt judiciary, etc  ...

social evils ?

hope you did not forget the satidaha prath, fear about girl child education; restriction on widow marriage etc;

do not tell that these social evils  are the donation of british rulers, because  it was eradicated by the movement of indians only. before eradication it existed long time in indian sociaty and britishers allowed these in indian society, better to say they do not have any political willpower to eradicate these evils.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     06 February 2011

pl read

tell that eradication of  these social evils

instead of

tell that these social evils

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     06 February 2011

now please ask what is the logic behind 'yes' ?

"

i agree that it was eradicated by movement of indians like raja rammohan roy.here i fully agree wid u.but i am not talking of who started movements against it.i am talking of "BANNING IT LEGALLY".

R.R Roy HAD TO take the help of british govt to pass stringent laws to eradicate it.

if he had started crusading against it alone, the rigidity of people to follow this system wud have drained his spirits, and he wud have died fighting against this evil, but to no avail.

now imagine if britishers had never come to india and sati was still continuing till 2011.

do u think present indian govt wud have SUCCESSFULLY banned it?

here,i am not referring to merely passing laws on paper against it,but actually punishing the offenders with no spcl. favour to any offender on basis of class, influence, political connections, etc by way of bails, using influence, lack of evidence, relief to culprit mother inlaws and sister inlaws as they are "women",etc??

please reply..
