Manhani means Defamation which is both criminal as well as civil offence. there has to be a specific imputations ( may be by words spoken or written) intending to harm the reputation of the other and publication of the defamatory content. at instant it is your wife who had filed fake complaints, so you do not have any cause of action against your father in law for this offence.

If she is now staying with you! Dont file any cases on his father. Try to live in peace with your wife
