Sir,
Please advice the difference between alimony (sec 24, 25 etc) and maintenance. (sec 18). Can citations available as "alimony" be used for "mainenance" ? I am husband, defending myself-in-person. On my petition, divorce was ordered under "cruelty & desertion". Thanks.

The words are used interchangably after divorce.
Till divorce happens the word is maintenance.

section 24 is the maintenance during pendelite (case proceeding) which is monthly basis, but at the time of passing divorce decree Judge can grant the maintenance U/s 25 if it monthly basis called maintenance till next marriage of applicant but it is while sum about it called alimony it is pertain to mention that husband can also get miantenance from is wife U/s 24 HMA.. the Citation on the maintenance/alimony can be available in the internet & web site of various High Courts Judgement
