No party is authorized to ask the other to attend the court. Such powers are only given to the presiding officer i.e. The Judge. Even the police is not authorized to solely proceed on their own to ask somebody to be present in court unless not empowered with a court order.

As a matter of fact you would be summoned to the court through a court order .

It is not a mandatory notice.....But If you feel it makes sense, do pay a visit.....But only if it makes sense....

Until court notice is received by you or you have returned the same refusing to accept notice, technically, service of notice is not complete . Hence in such situation court will adjourn for next date with instructions to send fresh summons.
But, if you appear in court without service of summons due to sms sent by opposite party, service will be deemed to completed.
Now, its your choice on issue of what you wnat to do mening thereby whether you want to appear in court at this stage or later.

You do not use this phone now onwards.... or it could be the case that that cell phone is not used by you or it could be the case that SMS is not delivered to you or it could be the case that you did not see the SMS due to problem in your cellphone....
you may find some more....
