Advocates please help in the question: "whether a step father is liable to maintain the minor child of his second wife ?
for example: A is daughter of B. B got married to P as his second wife(by valid marriage) and from this P becomes step father of A. Is P liable to maintain A also after divorce from B.
please provide with law and authority. will be very much thankful.

in a nutshell maintenance is provided to wife and his legitimate or illegitimate child

Unless P adopted A, he is not liable to maintain A.

Thank you sir for responding. Sir Shonee Kapoor not any specific procedure has been followed to adopt the child but at the time of marriage of B and P, P accepted the child and orally had taken responsibility to maintain the child. Now is this point going to make any difference in situation or not ?

Mr. Kapoor has rightly said, unless adoption is done and that is by way of seeking decree of Adoption from Civil Judge
