Caste certificate

I belong to ST caste. I have a Caste Certificate issued from/by my State Tehsil. However, I am giving government exams in the banking sector. The Instituition in question asked for a Caste certificate by central government in the format they gave. I don't understand. How do I get a caste certificate from/ by the central government?

You have to apply in the same State Tehsil, but this time under OBC category which is meant for Central Government Jobs/educations. Since Banking (though autonomous body) is formed under the Central Government/Ministry it comes under the Central Government only.

Hello Sir.

But Sir I am ST why would I apply for OBC category?

While filling the form for these exams, I filled my category as ST. After I cleared the exam, I was called for interview. During the interview, I showed them my state made caste certificate of ST caste. They were ok with it but they wanted me to present the same caste certificate but in the format they had given that is  from the central government.

Why would i change my caste to OBC when I am not an OBC but an ST?

Your querry comes under service matter which is not my specialisation. I have verified the law books. Yes, you are correct, SC ST certificate is different from OBC certificate. There is a provision of having two types of certificates for Backward class i.e. one is BC certificate for State reservations and OBC for central Government reservations. Where for SC and ST there will be only one certificate which can be used by both state and central reservations.

If they have provided a format as per which you were required to produce the ST certificate for employment, read the instructions printed in the format abut how to get it and who are authorised to give the said certificate, you can enquire from Tehsil office also.

OBC categpry has two types of lists (i) notified by by central govt and applicable to both central and state jobs (ii) notified by state govt and applicable only for jobs for the relevant state and certificate is with different normat.

for SC/ST. There is no saparete list.  There is only one list (statewise) which is notified by centre (state having no power) and applicable for both central and state jobs throghout country.

In all such cases th certificate is issued by Tehsil only.

I have received interview call for Central Government job. In the advertisement of this job, they have provided specific format for SC caste certificate. I have the caste certificate that is of the same format given in Advertisement for this job , but it not issued by any authority which is mentioned in the below-portion of the caste certificate format provided in Advertisement. I have the caste issued in english issued by District Social Welfare Officer. But this authority was not in the list given in the format of advertisement. They have listed following authorities as Competent authority to issue caste certificate.

d

(1) District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector / Deputy Commissioner / Additional Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / Ist class stipendiary Magistrate / Sub Divisional Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner.

(2) Chief Presidency Magistrate / Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate / Presidency Magistrate.

(3) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and

(4) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and / or his family normally resides.

Now, I'm confused , what should i do. whether caste certificate issued by District Social Welfare Officer, that  i have , will be considered valid or i have to go for new caste certificate - to be issued by above mentioned authorities ?

"Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar"

what does this mean?

Bhavika Solanki   26 January 2017

That means - Chief Officer in charge of the Revenue administration in the District, Sub-Division or Tehsil . However, I just want to know whether certificate issued by District Social Welfare Officer will be considered valid or not ?

Are you  the first or the last candidate whom such certificate is issued by such authority for seeking govt job.

No.. sir I know many people, who have certificate issued by D.S.W.O. and this authority is competent to issue. such certificate. Many have got state govt. job on the basis of it. State govt. job advertisements do not mention list of  any competent authority. so, they consider it valid. But, Central Job Advertisement always explicitly give the list of Authorities competent to issue such certificate. and in that list, D.S.W.O is not listed there.
