Legal notice sent by a advocate need not be mention his registration/enrollment number with the Bar Council of the State where he practice as an advocate. Similarly, an advocate doesn't require a rubber stamp to be affixed on the notice sent by him, it's good if the notice has his name and addresses etc. mentioned.

The Bar Council of India vide its Circular No.STBC/Cir/No.18/2006 dated 5.7.2006 requires the letter heads of all advocated to carry their registration number. You can challenge the issuers standing as a practicing advocate registered with the BCI or any state bar in case the letter head does not mention the enrolment number.
