Money recovery and fraud

My father has helped with a huge amount of money to someone. They gave cheques and returned us 40% of the amount. They gave us new cheques afterwards of the remaining amount and kept promising to pay it but paid nothing since last year. The cheques were also again received because of dates being over. Finally we bounced the cheques and sent legal notice. The account is freezed and no response or amount is received till now. We are about to file cheque bounce case under limitation period. Please let me know what other options of complaining are available to us besides cheque bounce case? I want the person to be jailed soon. Cheque bounce cases have initial custody of only one day and amount is in lakhs.

A cheque bounce case against the borrower is the proper remedy available before you, if you deviate from this procedure then you may suffer more loss.
