they dnt have any right over that property , your wife's mother is free to handle that property however if your wife's mother die intestate then all children will have equal right over that property.

Yes your wife has no any right over the questioned property.your wife's mother is absolute owner of that property and can sale.alienate or transfer to anyone as per her wish.
