If so why and at what stage is the case is pending for such a long time?

You can concentrate on the divorce case alone and do not have to be worried about the alimony issue until she applies for that.

You don't initiate any action from your side for compromise  or reconciliation.

If she is dragging on the case with one or the other flimsy reason you may approach high court with a petition seeking direction for an expetidious disposal of the case.
