In a hundial theft case,the accused were charged for breaking open the hundi by using duplicate keys.Both the original and duplicate keys and the locks were sent to forensic expert and the expert gave his opinion that by using the duplicate keys hundi locks can be opened.During his chief examination the expert said that the keys(duplicate) shown to him were not the keys examined by him so now the lock can't be opened using the duplicate keys. When asked how the keys are changed the expert said that his assistant will pack and seal the things after he examined and there the keys will be lost or misplaced.At this point, what will be the evidentiary value of his evidence and how far his opinion can be trust worthy.Kindly give your views and please quote any case laws relevant to this case.
