Gift of Immovable Property

Dear Sir,

My father has a property and now he wants to gift it to my two sisters- in- law. I wanted to know procedure regarding this matter.

If the property is self acquired then he can gift it in favour of your Sister in law. The gift deed needs to be registered.

By executing the regd., gift deed he can gift the property, if it is his self acquired property.

Following procedure is to be complied with for a valid gift deed:

1. must be signed by two witnesses,

2. possession must be delivered

3. must be registered

In absence of any of above actions gift deed will be invalid.
