How to speed up a case proceedings

We have a property dispute going on our ancestral property and have filed a case. The case is about whether the property is marumakathaayam or makathaayam. The issue now is we are claiming its marumakathayam and the opposite party lawyer hasnt even turned up in court for last three hearings. While most of us in the family are well settled and are not really dependent on this property for a future there is an old 84 old widow with no pension or anything and her unmarried 47 year old daughter who have no means of living other than the money they hope to get upon sale of this property. How can we speed up the litigation process so these two people have some means of a future? Please note neither parties are ready for a compromise so we need a legal solution itself.

Marumakkathayam is abolished under the Hindu Succession Act, 1955. If the succession is with respect to death which occurred after 1956 it will be decided under the Act only. Anyway you can appeal to the High Court for direction to the lower court for an ex-parte decision.

The property belonged to my great grandmother. She died in 1977. She did not make a will. So does marumakhathayam apply?
