Is it possible to file dp 3 case against father-in-law

Members,

wife sent lawyer's notice after receiving a call from caw cell for family counselling for which i applied.
she didnt turned up for counselling. she sent me notice in which it is clearly mentioned that they had given me dowry.
no other litigations so far from their side. but i sent letters to police much before notice etc. can i file a case of dp3 against them on the basis of notice. as no case is filed by them against me and my family only notice is served.

my lawyer says we can file and in our petition we will mention that we never demanded for anything and whatever was given was for coustomary gifts and if it is dowry then it was given without our knowledge and we came to know that they consider it as dowry only after getting this notice. so we want to file a case against them.

please suggest all possibilities.in this regard.

thanks in advance
regards

not able to explain the problem.

what case you want to file?

Whein one is alleged of demanding and receiving bribe then the complainant cannot be charged for giving dowry as the lasw is meant to protect dowry victim women not to harass them.

Deny the allegations via a legal notice...
