it depends on facts of the case but in general limitation period for filing complaint for any offence should be the maximum punishment for that offence.for further clarification you can see sec-506 of IPC  and sec-468 of CrPC.

I would like to add as below:

Generally an immediate complaint is preferred but due to circumstances beyond the complainant's control the complainant could be justifed in filing a delayed report. However, such delay being unjustified or unexplained could culminate into quashing or easy acquital.
