Hello,

To answer you query, Retrospective Laws  are the laws that are made with affect on the acts or the facts that have occured before the new law came into force.

These statutes basically bring a change in the legal consequences of the activities that were committed before the enactment of the law.

Hope this helped. Thanks and Regards,

As per your query, let me inform you that the basic concept of retrospective laws were made to affect various activities or facts that had occured before the law actual came into existence.

Any statute which adds an obligation or contradicts the rights provided by the Constitution, or imposes a new duty, or implies a new disability in respect to any type of transactions already past.

Laws such as these alter the legal consequences of all the acts that were enacted and came into forced before it's enactment.
An example for retrospective law in India is the Karnataka Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prohibition of Transfer of Certain Lands) Act 1978. It is an Act to provide for the prohibition of transfer of certain lands granted by the government, to persons belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in the state, which means any land granted to the landless agricultural labourers belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, cannot be purchased.

Hope It Helps!

Regards
