If you file divorce then you can too demand for maintenance or alumni on the ground of divorce. Your marriage expenses can't be returned though you can claim for all your belonging which is in your in-laws custody.

There are two parts to your query, as I understand it, explained below:

First Part - About your marriage & engagement ceremony expenses

Such expenses are generally not considered for reversal in court litigation. However, you may seek Maintenance or full & final settlement i.e. Alimony from your enstranged husband. Asking for such expenses may lead to your husband asking for his expenses. Please understand that law is to protect your lawful rights and not to make/keep you rich.

Second Part - About your belongings in your matrimonial home

In lawful language, it is called, Stridhan. This is your lawful right and all that belongs to you has to be returned in proper condition by your in-laws. You have full right to seek help from the local police and/or the court to retrieve your belongings i.e. Stridhan.

I hope this suffice your query.

In any case you cannot claim the marriage expenses directly. A working woman is not entitled for maintenance unless there is no need for it...

You always have an anction open to claim your belongings back from your in laws
