Making a will

Hi.

Can I name my mother as sole benefactor instead of my wife in my will? All my assets are self earned and paid up before the wedding.

Why you want to do so ? its upto you whom you want to give your self earned property but be aware the property will be transferred to your mother after your demise , brother gift your property to your mother by making the registered gift deed in favour of your mother in your lifetime , who suggest you about this will , accoding to me it is a worse suggestion to make a will in the name of your mother.

You can make her as sole beneficiary because properties are your self acquired properties.

Thanks for the replies. As you may have guessed, Am in a middle of divorce proceddings. Should someething happen to me, before the decree is issued, I dont want my bitter half to harras my parents. Hence the step.

If I gift my property to my Mother now, can my wife make any claims on it?

In your self acquired property wife has no rights.
