AHMEDABAD: A 40-year-old man was held by the Bureau of Immigration at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Sunday night after his immigration check revealed that he was wanted for a police case. A look-out notice had been issued by Haryana Police for Vinay Omprakash in a domestic violence case and he was on his way to board a late-night flight to Singapore.
Vinay, a resident of Mehsana, is wanted in relation to a complaint filed by his wife in Sonepat in Haryana. He has been absconding for long. "While he was going through the immigration check, his name popped up on the screen showing that there was a look-out notice against him and according to that he can't leave the country," said an airport official.
Vinay has a Chinese passport and he had recently returned from China from a business trip. He has been charged under section 498A of IPC. He has been taken into custody by the Sardarnagar police and will soon be handed over to Haryana Police.
"We have informed the police station in Sonepat where the case is registered against Vinay. A Haryana police team has left for Ahmedabad and will be here soon," said K K Patel, senior police inspector. The interesting aspect is that Vinay did not get caught when he arrived from China.
