Pay fixation

Dear sir/ma'am, I was working Institute of hotel management as assistant lecturer in 9300 - 34800 GPS 4200 and after implementation of 7th cpc reached to level 7, with basic of 42600, mean while post of lecturer was advertised I applied as departmental candidate through proper channel and got selected to the post ,(post with higher responsibilities) am I eligible for next level or increment or not as the accountant says as this is a direct recruitment you are not eligible for it, kindly suggest. It means that even after getting selected to next higher post I will get the same salary.

You will only get pay protection, and not any higher stage or additional increment.
