Paying guest

Hi,

I am staying in a rented house in Kolkata from more than 30 years. (Salami rent)

As I do not have any source of income at the moment, can I keep PG Accomadation in the same flat?

Please advise?

Thanks

Radhika

Thanks for the reply.

The landlord will not agree to give it in writing. Is there any other way I could keep PG accomadation. I am not doing it for business. I have no other source of income.

Thanks

Dear Radhika,

conset of the land lord should suffice, need not be in writing only

Thanks Vish!

Can someone please help me with the legal definition of Paying Guest.

Also is Paying guest a tenant?

Take atleast a oral consent from the Landlord, and then keep the paying guest may be just like your family friend or relation.

This should not generally create issues with the Landlord normally.

A paying guest will never be treated as a tenant.Even the oral consent of the land lord is sufficient to permit a paying guest to reside in your premises.
