Post office receipts

Dear Friends,

I want to produce before a Court a letter (without acknowledgement) I received through the local post office in my town about a year ago.

Can I get the details of the letter through confirmation by the post office?

Do the post offices keep record of the letters received by them more than a year ago?

Generically speaking:NO

Even Redg/speed Post tracking are maintained on website; say for 3 months.

Thereafter RTI route might be possible for Redg. post.

Rest you may check with your own area PO.

KINDLY NOTE THAT.

1. YOU MAY SUBMIT A WRITTEN APPLICATION TO THE POST MASTER OF THE SAID AREA AND MENTION ACTUAL FACTS AND INFORMATION REQUIRED.

2. KEEP COPY AND  ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SAME.

3. THE HEAD POST MASTER MAY CERTIFY THE ACTUAL DELIVERY OF SAME BY ISSUE OF CERTIFICATE , IF IT WAS A SPEED POST OR REGD.POST LETTER, ON website of indiapost.com .

4. YOU MAY GET THE INFORMATION BY SUBMITINGAPPLICATION TO INFORMATION OFFICER OF SAID DEPT, UNDER RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT.

GOOD LUCK

The PO may not be having any record of letters that are not booked by Reg/speed post.
